WAUNAFEST SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

Unlimited Arc At Its Finest

The tournament is held annually on the last full weekend of July and runs from Thursday night through Sunday night.  For 2011 the dates are July 28 through July 31.  The tournament is run with volunteer labor from the Ripp's Bar softball team with the cooperation of the Waunafest Recreation Committee and the Village of Waunakee Parks and Recreation Department.  The festival also features the American Legion beer tent with nightly entertainment from some of the area's best bands, a second beer tent operated by the Waunakee Chamber of Commerce, many food stands sponsored by various local organizations, carnival rides for the kids, an arts and crafts show, tug of war, volleyball tournaments and the area's largest parade on Sunday. 

The tournament is highly competitive and features 36 teams in a double elimination format using 2 diamonds.  Games typically start at 6PM on Thursday and Friday nights and begin at 8AM on Saturday and 8:30AM on Sunday.  The championship game is at 5:30PM on Sunday afternoon. 

While many teams from Waunakee and the surrounding communities participate, the tournament also attracts teams from as far away as Platteville, La Crosse, Tomah, Rhinelander, Monroe, and Dubuque.  Many of the teams are regulars on the unlimited arc circuit and play almost every weekend of the summer, however, there are also many teams that may be playing in their only tournament of the summer.  Regardless, every team comes to play their best and there are always early upsets in the tournament and there are never any easy roads through the loser's bracket.

The entry fee for 2011 is $150 and the prize money (100% of the entry fees) is as follows:

1st Place - $1700   2nd Place - $1150   3rd Place - $850   4th Place - $650  5th/6th Place - $325 each   7th/8th Place - $200 each
